Coming out #1

The first person I came out to was my close friend from school. She had come out as bisexual during our final year of sixth form and at that time I was quite honestly not supportive of her. This meant that my coming out to her was also an apology for not being as supportive of her as she is of me now. I am so lucky to have such an amazing friend who is not only supportive of me but also forgiving (and well informed enough that I did not have to explain what asexuality is.) It was scary to finally voice what I had come to accept about myself but it was such an amazing feeling to hear someone say, “You are valid and I support you.”
