Category: Important

I’ve seen the “alternative aromantic flag” post on my dashboard and believe it is very important to let you all know that right now the user amethyst/hazel/eyes (without the slashes), also known as Triple/A (without the slash) on the Arocalypse forums, is an ace/aro exclusionist as well as someone who does not believe in the aromantic spectrum. They believe that only aromantics who have never felt romantic attraction whatsoever and who never want anything to do with romance in any way, shape, or form are “true” aromantics.

I, and I should say the vast majority of the rest of the community, do not tolerate this elitist behaviour. I urge you all to not give this person a platform and not reblog their content. They seem to wish that, with the creation of a flag and with enough people in agreement with them, they’ll create their own “real aromantic community.”

I decided to make a separate post about this instead of reblogging their post(s). I will not be debating the status of aros on this blog, but because I keep seeing them around and they have continuously resisted mine and others’ attempts to educate, I thought it important to mention to you all.

Wonder Woman would probably be so heartbroken if she heard there were people who thought her feminism was trans-exclusionary

I told you so.

For all my trans followers, especially those who are Trans Women! Wonder Women is one of you and Themiscyra would welcome you with open arms!

Yesterday, September 6th and today, September 7th 2019, a act of censorship is going down in Brazil.

The Rio De Janeiro mayor, Crivella, attempted to recoil a Marvel Avenger’s comic from Bienal, an important book event on Rio, for containing a gay kiss between two of the characters, under the defense that it was ‘innapropriate for children’ and ‘pornographic’

As a response to this, Brazilian Youtuber Felipe Neto, has bought over 10K books with LGBT themes and distributed them for free on the Bienal.

However, the current tribunal justice president of Brazil allowed the recoil of the books, and troops were sent to recoil all of them.

They failed.

At the moment I am making this post, THEY FAILED. EVERY SINGLE LAST BOOK WAS GIVEN AWAY. The people present at the event cursed President Jair Bolsonaro with ‘ei, Bolsonaro, vai tomar no cú!’ (Hey, Bolsonaro, go fuck yourself!). We won this time.

But this isn’t the end.

Please, if you live in Germany, consider signing this petition and sharing it on social media. At the moment, ADHD children in Bavaria have no right to any accomodations whatsoever.

Please sign so children like my son can have the accomodations they need at school.!adhs

@abcsofadhd, would you consider giving this a signal boost?

I don’t know how how many german people I can reach here, but I know some are out there.

Y’all, share this with all your German friends. The kids need our help.

really though the whole “cringy mary sue oc” thing really is attacking an important outlet for lots of kids… All those tropes have a place in it:

  • Tragic backstories and lgbt+ identities are clearly signs that those are things that the kids creating the ocs live with. Most of those kids struggle with abuse or are lgbt+, and either way need a character to relate to
  • Self-inserts who hang out with their favorite character or variations on their favorite character? yeah chances are that kid feels pretty alone and needs to feel like someone who they love and look up to respects them back. see the abuse thing again
  • “Flawless personality” when you feel like everybody hates you you start to feel like a shit person. so having an oc like you who is also flawless is a place to embrace the things you like about yourself and get more self-confidence. I don’t know, this one’s hard to explain. See the next one
  • “Overpowered or underpowered” yeah, an OP oc is usually because the kid feelspowerless and helpless and nobody wants that. a relatable oc or self-insert who has lots of power? instant self-confidence boost. If my oc who’s like me can have power, so can I. With underpowered characters that’s just an outlet of that same frustration

Anyway yeah cringe culture is dead. All this applies to adults too, not just kids! you’re never to old to make a fun character!

Plus not to mention that all this stuff specifically preys on neurodivergent kids.

If you can think of any other tropes like this feel free to add on

trans guy with H-cup needs help to pay for top surgery 🙏please boost

So I talked about one of the reasons (one of the big reasons) that exclusionist radfem bullshit is so prevalent on tumblr being that they bring it here on purpose, because it’s how they can get young wlw in particular to believe them without question and be their enforcers, because the young wlw who end up here are often those who are isolated in their physical face-to-face spaces.

But there’s a flipside to that coin, which is that this is also where they can get young mspec (bisexual, pansexual, etc), asexual and trans kids (usually women and trans men) to swallow it.

You walk up onto Grindr and start telling mostly-cis gay men they can’t use “butch” and “femme” in their descriptions anymore, you’re not gonna get very far. To put it mildly. The one who don’t give a shit about anything but their own comfort and perspective are just going to laugh at you, and for the most part the ones who do care (often a lot) are also well aware that these talking points are bullshit.

You walk up to BUTCH Voices saying OMG ONLY LESBIANS CAN USE BUTCH and you’re probably gonna get a less friendly Talking-To than gets handed out sometimes on THIS site.

Because when you tell a 30, 40, 50, 60 year old person with a community and a history with their sexual and gender identity “you can’t use this word you’ve been using for literal decades to describe yourself” the friendliest reaction you’re going to get is a good-faith attempt to explain, the least aggressive you’re going to get is laughter, and probably (given that just about all of us here in “hey we’re not straight and don’t conform to majority-expected gender expression and relationship composition”-land have also been spending those decades under anywhere from low-to-high-level-siege-and-attack for same) you’re going get someone telling you to Shut The Everloving Fuck Up, I Don’t Have To Take That Shit From You.

Say those same things to the nervous, newly-self-aware person (at any age, but especially in their teens or twenties?) Who just found this general place (tumblr) where The Not-Straight People Are? who are probably in the process of figuring out what the hell they even feel and are Learning What Things Mean?

When you tell THEM “you’re not allowed to use that word hdu!” they probably say “omg I’m sorry” and take the alternates you fling at them. Especially if you back it up with harassment (as a great many of these people do). Especially if you manage to generally cloak your bullshit in the language and patterns that social justice work uses ( “you’re appropriating! you’re talking over us! you should listen when we tell you about our words!”) to frame this as a privilege-disprivilege axis, rather than acts of active lateral violence from one group (monosexually attracted wlw) against another (mspec people).

Their bullshit works better here. A lot better. And that’s another dynamic that’s important to keep in mind.

They are radicalizing isolated and needy young people. The ideologies change, but the tactics remain the same, because those tactics work.

And I can’t help but notice many of these same people are actively pushing this gross lie that “every adult you speak to online is a pedophile you have to be afraid of.” How convenient that this rhetoric creates *more* isolated and lonely young people who live in terror of engaging with elders in the community who could give them access to real support and advice that isn’t about an ideological agenda.

I’m so beyond angry with these people. They’re preying on vulnerable children and stuffing their heads full of entitlement and division. They’re harming the community and they’re *harming our children,* and it’s fucking unconscionable.

The way that exclusionists treat ace and aro people often reminds me of how the average person would treat me when I started being open as non-binary. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it a thousand times, we are not enemies. Our experiences do not oppose each other, they are intertwined. If you’re ace, if you’re aromantic, if you’re any variation thereupon; your home is here. You belong here, too. You are beautiful, and powerful; and you don’t have to explain yourself to anyone. You are a valued part of this community.

To all the LGBTAQ+ Muslims, you are not dirty. You are not a walking contradiction. You are beautiful and incredible. I want all my Muslim brothers, sisters and friends to know this that Allah has created you the way you are, and you are a child of his.

He loves you for who you are and what you do. You are a perfectly valid human and deserve every bit of happiness this world has to offer. This year we celebrate Eid-ul-fiter in the month of Pride to acknowledge our existence and embrace our identity.

Non Muslims are highly encouraged to reblog this post.

Islamophobic people, terfs, Nazis, Trump supporters and any lgbtaq+ phobic people DO NOT INTERACT.
